Freddie and the Maybellines take last curtain call after 24 years
BASS RIVER, Mass. (Jan. 4, 2012)— Following their 21st engagement at Chatham First Night, Freddie and the Maybellines brought the curtain down on a show that has entertained New England audiences for 24 years.
New England’s premier show band was founded in 1988 by Fred “Freddie” Ghioto of Bass River, Mass.
Ghioto, along with Anne Aylmer, Jean Tyler, Sheila Smith, the late David Clark, Steve Hanlon and James Faraher created a lasting musical patchwork of well over 50 musicians.
Over the years, the band performed throughout New England, and as far south as Manhattan and Long Island. The band’s consistent application of strong vocals, musicianship, costuming and dedication to excellence earned them a large and devoted following.
The current band members Fred Ghioto, Alan Hebditch, Dana Henrique, Lewis Anderson, Ann Aylmer, Sheila Smith, Jo Ann Marino and Joe Marino would like to express their utmost appreciation to all their fans, friends, and many venues that supported them throughout the years.
